Hi Marc
Hamish was not happy because I did not want to give him his saltwater outfit back after mangaing to fluke a decent cast with it. (my longest ever).
It was a great weekend, great company and lots of great tips for distance and presentation casts. I liked the teaching tips explained during the demonstrations, especially the tip for roll casting, it makes it lots of fun to practise.
I have disliked (hated) Hamish's saltwater beast of a rod for as long as I can remember, now I need something similar to play with. Hamish, you and Ben have converted me to the evil of weilding heavy gear. Never thought I would have said that before, DT 10, 11 & 12 being ordered to cut up and play with.
Time to play with this sort of gear in preparation for the trip to Assynt chasing Pollock.
Next year the shoot outs should be capped at a Maximum of #3 lines, that way I may get a better overall final position
I seem to be better with lighter gear. I need to spend quite a few hours playing with the heavy stuff before next years event and also work on my technique. If only I had actually replicated what Paul said to do rather than seeing the red mist of the lanes and smacking it.
Looking forward to next year
Kev.
