OK, so there I was sitting in my private study in quiet contemplation (I confess, I was in the bathroom) reading the November issue of T&S when something on page 12 caught my eye in 'short casts' in a piece on Dublin Salmon.
States in there that the only two European capital cities that have a wild run of Salmon are Reykjavik and Dublin.
Now hang on a minute says I..... that can't be right.

So what about Helsinki I had to look up the name of the river (it's the Vantaanjoki by the way) but it still has a run of wild salmon and it's in Europe isn't it Must be something that swims through Stockholm to get to a river (that isn't a discarded ABBA album cover or a knackered Volvo that wasn't tarted up by it's new Chinese owner) surely that counts

Are there others I can't believe it's just the two mentioned in T&S ???

Although that one is debateable. It has a small run of Salmon but the EA have recently said that they are all stocked and that no natural spawning has taken place...but there could be one or two there.

Yup, both Edinburgh and London have merit although I agree Rob - London and the Thames is a wee bit of a long shot.
Paris is also a possibility

Douglas in the Isle of man? (may be pushing it admittedly!).

The Rivers Dhoo and Glass both have salmon, although arguably when running through the town (it's not a city) it is the 'Douglas' river (still has salmon though).

I think, but I may be wrong, that the Salmon of the Danube are not Atlantic Salmon but are actually Huchen..which are still a Salmonidae but not as we know it.

So does it count?
