Haddo Trout Fishery ( to March 12th )

Hi folks

With just a couple of weeks to go, the Haddo Winter League competition is “hotting up”. Keith Crocket is in the lead with 98 fish for his five 4hr entry sessions, but all is not over yet and there is more than one angler hard on his heels!

Anything from tiny size 16 and 18 buzzers and nymphs up to larger lures like the black fritz, olive fritz, cats and mohicans have been productive this week, but they had to be fished at just the right depth and speed. The fishing has been slow to take off in the mornings at times, but towards midday the hatches have increased and the fish have been keener to feed.

From the float tubes, Kev Danby enjoyed a good session with 15 fish of all four species up to approx 3 lb and Jim Eddie also had good sport with 10 fish to his net.

From the boats, Chris McAllister tempted 16 fish up to 10 lb, Denis Brown had 13 up to 8 lb, Lloyd Rattray 12 up to 5 lb, John Brown 12 up to 6 lb, Henry Lockhart 15 to approx 4 lb and Sandy Bowman caught his first fish on the fly, a lovely 5 lb 14 oz rainbow!

The fishery is booked for a club outing this coming Sunday, but availability is currently good for Saturday.
