Great book..except it does not show you how to tie the damn things...just a list of materials..which is HIGHLY frustrating!

As for the conversation regarding baitfish and tubes...have a look at this site...

and these should interest you Sandy.... http://pikeflyfishingarticles.blogspot.com/search/label/Tube%20flies

As I said, us Pikers have been dressing baitfish on tubes for a while now..as can be seen by some of the amazing creations from Sweden.

Cheers you two

I have the book already :z16 thats why i knew some people did make them :wink
I took a few saltwater fly books with me, that one, Bob Clousers one and Bob Popovics one too
I think i've learned more fro the australian forum though.
Tends to be the way, actual live feedback from people is far better than just pictures alone, sometimes the internet is  a wonderful creation

Nice sites rob :z16 cheers

More ideas to play with. Like me popper :z4 Now you know why i got a 12wt rod too :z4 :z4 :z4

One of the negatives from the Australians, about tubes for saltwater.

Involves bite offs, when the tube slides up the line and another fish takes it. Many of the saltwater species with teeth hunt in packs and this can quite an issue, apparently.

So depends what species you are fishing for too :z16

Now thats one I would not have thought of!

My uncle has spoken of Wahoo hitting the large bearing swivel when out fishing for Marlin etc and severing the line when playing fish. Similar thing I guess.

I have hooked a trout and had another take the top dropper whilst playing the first one...not as exciting I should think..lol

Hi Sandy,
Yeah, I thought that you just might have those books. Bite-offs a big problem with some species, eg Bluefish !!! Teeth like dugs .

Have they used long bite leaders of knottable wire . Some of the new stuff is terrific , just as thin and pliable as normal mono. Can't do much when they munch through the fly line though  :oops

Paul.
