Outing to Loch Beanie
« on: 14/06/2009 at 17:10 »
Hi All,
Here are a few piccies of a recent outing to Loch Beanie at Glenshee. (Full permit info and directions are on the FishDee site).

Just a few pants up the hill this is the view .

As you can see it was a bright and sunny day. Nice eh ?

After about an hour's walk .

 Almost there !

Note Jim and Noel . They have longer legs .....

Wind dying away , bright sun , flat calm , mmmmm.....

By the time I had tackled up though a wee breeze starts to ripple the water.

And with a bit of cloud cover conditions improve a little.

Can you spot the osprey ?

Result ! A well conditioned pounder courtesy of my Olive Sedgehog.

I,m sure the Ospreys were in frame when I took this one !

Oh Well !!

Another pounder recovering in the shallows

Swam away strongly after a few minutes.

Jim enjoying himself.

All this and Heaven too !

Hope you liked them .  :z4

Paul.

Glad someone put up some pics as my camera got a soaking. Had read somewhere if this happens not to turn it on before a good drying out and im glad to say that worked :grin

Had a lovely day at Beanie with the lads. Weather was kind, warm enough to get up a good sweat on the walk in yet the wind when it got up could be cool.
The water was cold which I suppose is not surprising at this elevation.

I humped the tube in and made good use of it completing a full circuit of the loch. Not sure its necessary though as the fish seem to be distributed all over with the lads catching around the same amount and quality of fish as I did. Think next time I would forgo the advantages of the tube for the freedom a small rucksack would bring.

There were a lot of flies hatching all day with the fish coming up in response so I stuck with the drys most of the day.
They are not fussy taking most patterns that I tried.
Experimented with wets for a while 2 and when I first switched over had 3 fish in rapid succession then nothing :z8
I got the season ticket which I intend to get the value out of, so if anyone fancies a bash drop me a pm. I would be fishing it on fridays.
